A CALL TO ACTION: IN PROTECTION OF ENDANGERED CHILDHOOD OF ARTSAKH CHILDREN
05.08.2023
For the Attention of Human Rights and Child Protection Organizations
While you read these lines, the innocent children of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) are fighting for their lives.
While you read these lines, numerous young mothers in Artsakh are unable to experience the joy of holding their newborn for the first time.
We, the organizations devoted to protecting children’s rights, urgently appeal to international organizations focused on children’s welfare and protection. The time for ACTION is NOW! The lives of 30,000 children in Artsakh depend on your swift response. Their lives rest in your hands.
Long-term deprivations such as malnutrition, lack of access to primary medical care, separation from families, and significant barriers to education have profound and lasting impacts not only on children's physical health but also on their mental well-being and overall development.
The situation is particularly dire for children with disabilities and those facing chronic illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, kidney failure, cerebral palsy, and more. For these vulnerable children, their own homes have turned into humanitarian disaster zones.
With each passing hour, children in this crisis are losing faith, hope for tomorrow, and the essence of humanism. Their dreams and innocent reflections are overshadowed by the relentless struggle for survival.
These indisputable facts demand CALL TO THE RESCUE S.O.S an immediate response from child protection organizations and professionals. The time has come to act decisively and provide at least humanitarian aid and basic necessities, which are the only possibility to alleviate the suffering and deprivation of children living in Artsakh today.
This is a matter of professional and humanitarian responsibility.
Every passing second of silence and each minute of delay costs human life.
The fate of 30,000 children now lies within hands of individuals and institutions dedicated to humanistic values and their crucial mission to protect children.
Pool your resources and unite your efforts to act for children and humanity without borders. Listen to the voices of 30,000 innocent children of Artsakh.
We strongly call upon all international organizations dedicated to child protection issues to speak out and take decisive actions, urging Azerbaijan to address the case of Armenia v. Azerbaijan before the International Court of Justice under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination on February 22, 2023, and July 6, 2023, and to ensure the timely execution of the court's decisions.
We also appeal to child protection specialists operating in Azerbaijan, lawyers, psychologists, social workers, educators and all those who are concerned about child protection issues, to appeal to their authorities to open the Lachin Corridor for humanitarian cargo as soon as possible.
Calling all child protection specialists operating in Azerbaijan, including lawyers, psychologists, social workers, educators, and passionate advocates for children's rights! Unite your voices and demand immediate action from the authorities to promptly open the Lachin Corridor for humanitarian cargo!
Together, let's make a resounding impact and safeguard the well-being of those in need!
This appeal is open for signature by all institutions and professionals involved in the protection of children and human rights.
The position was signed by organizations that are members of the Child Protection Network.
