REACT project: Supporting the psycho-social rehabilitation of local and displaced persons

17.05.2023

The Armenian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is contributing to the increased resilience of conflict-affected populations in five regions of Armenia (Syunik, Vayots Dzor, Tavush, Kotayk, and Gegharkunik) as well as in Yerevan. The AASW is undertaking this vital work within the framework of "REACT: Relief and Early Recovery for People Affected by Conflict in Armenia" project which is implemented by the PIN and funded by EU humanitarian aid.

Through our dedicated team and partners, we supported the psycho-social rehabilitation of over 2,300 conflict-affected persons by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge.

We are thrilled to report that the project has made a significant positive impact on the communities that shelter displaced persons. REACT is contributing to expanding opportunities for the inclusion and integration of displaced persons intohost communities. In particular, they have overseen the establishment and equipping of seven Family and Child Spaces in target communities which will continue to provide services to the community after the project's completion. At the same time, youth groups implemented eight community and five start-up projects, promoting participation, inclusion, and activation in their communities. Furthermore, 25 displaced persons participated in an introductory course in social work to develop their potential and equip them with the professional skills and knowledge needed to support other displaced persons in their communities.

Finally, the project provided 20 families with the opportunity to realize their business ideas and take steps towards activating their own resources and self-sufficiency.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported us in this endeavor. Thank you for your continued support and dedication to positively impacting people's lives.

'REACT: Relief and Early Recovery for People Affected by Conflict in Armenia' project was made possible with funding from EU humanitarian aid; it is implemented by People in Need, in consortium with ACTED, the Armenian Association of Social Workers and Mission Armenia..
