The Armenian Association of Social Workers invites qualified professionals to participate in Competition No. AASW-RISE-003/26-4 for the position of Psychologist, to provide psychological services to children, adolescents, and young people residing in the Maralik Social House within the framework of the project RISE – Armenia: Rehabilitation, Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Displaced and Vulnerable Population.
Position: Child Psychologist (Maralik Social House)
Project Title: RISE – Armenia: Rehabilitation, Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Displaced and Vulnerable Population.
The project aims to strengthen the social protection system for vulnerable populations in Armenia, including persons displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, through capacity building of social workers and by ensuring access to new social services, including patronage, social care, and socio-rehabilitation services.
Project Duration: November 2024 – November 2027

1. Purpose of the Position
The psychologist will contribute to improving the mental health, psychosocial well-being, emotional resilience, and social adaptation of residents of the Social House, particularly children, adolescents, and young people, through the provision of individual and group psychological support.
The psychologist will be responsible for assessing the psychological condition of beneficiaries, identifying emotional and behavioral difficulties at an early stage, supporting beneficiaries in overcoming psychosocial challenges, and facilitating group activities that promote social inclusion and improve quality of life.
The psychologist is expected to maintain confidentiality, respect the dignity and individual characteristics of beneficiaries, and collaborate with family members and other professionals involved in supporting the beneficiary.
2. General Requirements
Service Delivery Format
Psychological services will be provided on the premises of the Social House through individual counselling sessions and group activities.
Service Delivery Approach
The psychologist will work with children, adolescents, and young people residing in the Social House by assessing their psychological and emotional well-being. Based on assessment findings, necessary interventions and support measures will be jointly planned with the multidisciplinary team (social worker, nurse, and other specialists).
Interventions will be regularly reviewed and discussed during team meetings held at least once per month.
Psychological services should be delivered in a manner that promotes mental well-being, emotional stability, and the development of social and communication skills.
3. Duties and Responsibilities
3.1 Psychological Assessment and Counselling
- Conduct initial and periodic psychological assessments of children, adolescents, and young people residing in the Social House.
- Conduct preliminary assessments of beneficiaries’ cognitive functioning and mental health status.
- Provide individual psychological counselling and support beneficiaries in addressing emotional and psychosocial challenges.
3.2 Provision of Psychosocial and Emotional Support
- Work with beneficiaries experiencing conflict, violence-related experiences, grief and loss, depressive symptoms, reduced motivation, and other psychological difficulties.
- Support beneficiaries in maintaining emotional stability and enhancing social adaptation.
3.3 Behavioral Assessment and Risk Management
- Work with children, adolescents, and young people presenting behavioral difficulties.
- Assess potential risks, including self-harm and aggressive behavior.
- Recommend appropriate interventions or referrals to specialized services when necessary.
3.4 Facilitation of Group Activities
- Organize and facilitate group discussions and activities on psychosocial and emotional well-being topics.
- Promote peer support, communication, and social skills development among beneficiaries.
3.5 Other Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of interventions and consultations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
- Adhere to safeguarding requirements, ethical standards, and all procedures related to beneficiary safety and protection.
4. Minimum Qualification Requirements
- University degree in Psychology.
- At least three (3) years of professional experience in psychological counselling and/or psychosocial support.
- At least two (2) years of experience working with vulnerable groups, including older persons, persons with disabilities, displaced populations, care leavers, children, or young people.
