Job Announcment - Wellness and Yoga Specialist

The Armenian Association of Social Workers invites qualified specialists who meet the required criteria to apply for the position of Wellness and Yoga Specialist within the framework of the “RISE-Armenia: Rehabilitation, Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Displaced and Vulnerable Population” project (tender No. AASW-RISE-005/26).

Position: Wellness and Yoga Specialist (Maralik Social House)

Project Title: "RISE – Armenia: Recovery, Social Inclusion, and Empowerment of Displaced and Vulnerable Populations" Project

Project Objective: The project aims to improve the social protection system for vulnerable populations in Armenia, including persons displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. This is achieved through building the capacities of social workers, as well as ensuring access to new social services, including patronage, social care, and socio-rehabilitative services.

  • Project Duration: November 2024 – November 2027
  • Reports to: Supervisor of the Maralik Center
  • Duty Station: Maralik, Shirak Marz (Maralik Social House)
  • Start Date: June 1, 2027
  • End Date: November 30, 2027 (End of the Project)

1. Content and Objective

The intervention implemented by the Wellness and Yoga Specialist aims to contribute to maintaining the physical health, improving joint mobility, brain performance, and mental activity of the residents of the Social House through the provision of individual and group specialized sessions.

The primary responsibilities of the specialist include conducting initial assessments of the residents' mobility capacities and limitations, developing safe programs tailored to their health status, conducting yoga and neuro-gymnastics sessions, as well as regularly monitoring and supervising the participants' well-being.

The specialist is obliged to respect the confidentiality of the data made available to them regarding the beneficiaries, follow a person-centered approach, and cooperate closely with the multidisciplinary team of the Social House.

2. General Requirements

  • Service Delivery Format: Services are provided on-site at the Social House in the form of individual and group sessions.

  • Service Delivery Approach: The specialist develops a safe and tailored activity plan for each beneficiary. Based on the assessment results, interventions are planned and regularly reviewed in cooperation with the multidisciplinary team (social worker, nurse, psychologist) to ensure both the physical and emotional well-being of the beneficiary.

3. Professional Duties and Responsibilities

3.1. Physical Assessment and Programming

  • Conduct initial assessments of potential session participants' mobility capacities to determine their physical condition and limitations.

  • Program safe sessions tailored to the health and physical characteristics of the residents.

  • Develop and implement group and individual exercise programs, taking into account the participants' age, mobility, and overall capacities.

3.2. Session Facilitation and Activity Maintenance

  • Conduct regular yoga sessions.

  • Contribute to maintaining the overall physical health, brain performance, and mental activity of the residents through joint mobility exercises as well as neuro-gymnastics.

3.3. Monitoring, Risk Control, and Recording

  • Monitor the general condition of the participants during the sessions and supervise their well-being.

  • Maintain regular records of attendance and participation.

3.4. Cooperation and Ethics

  • Actively cooperate with the members of the multidisciplinary team for case discussions and to assess the dynamics of the beneficiaries.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations for beneficiaries, professional ethics, and confidentiality requirements.

4. Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Professional education, qualification, or internationally recognized certificates in teaching wellness physical culture/yoga, Eastern martial arts/gymnastics, or related fields (physiotherapy, kinesiology).

  • At least 3 years of work experience in teaching wellness physical culture/yoga or practical experience in a relevant field.

  • Experience working with vulnerable groups and individuals with various age/physical limitations (the elderly, persons with disabilities, displaced persons) is highly desirable.
