Vacancy Announcement: Learning and Development Specialist / Trainer (Martuni Child Daycare Center)

The Armenian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is seeking a qualified and motivated Learning and Development Specialist / Trainer for the Child Daycare Center in Martuni town (S03-AASW-26).

1. General Project Information

The recruitment of this specialist is conducted within the framework of the "Strong Civil Society for Empowered Child Protection" project. The project is led by World Vision Germany and the "World Vision Armenia" Child Protection Foundation, in partnership with the Child Protection Network, the Armenian Association of Social Workers, the Armavir Development Center, and the "Tahuys" NGO. The project is financially supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ).

The Martuni Child Daycare Center is operated by the AASW and aims to ensure the protection, psychosocial well-being, non-formal education, and social inclusion of vulnerable children and adolescents.

2. Objective of the Assignment

The primary objective is to engage a qualified professional to design, adapt, and implement non-formal educational programs and development training sessions for children, adolescents, and their parents/caregivers. These initiatives will focus on personal growth, socialization, and the cultivation of essential life skills (soft skills).

3. Core Thematic Areas

The Trainer will develop and deliver modules covering the following key areas:

  • Self-awareness and core life skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal relationships

  • Bullying prevention and resilience

  • Emotional literacy

  • Media literacy and critical thinking

  • Conflict management and peaceful resolution

  • Fundamentals of financial literacy

  • Personal safety and protective behaviors

  • Time management

  • Positive parenting (sessions and support groups for parents/caregivers)

4. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Curriculum and Module Development: Design tailored training modules, non-formal educational curricula, methodological materials, and practical exercises adapted to the specific needs of various age and target groups (children, adolescents, parents).

  • Delivery of Interactive Training Sessions: Organize and facilitate group training sessions, cognitive development workshops, team-building activities, and role-playing games, ensuring a highly participatory, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

  • Needs Assessment and Program Adaptation: Assess the educational and social skill development needs of the beneficiaries and adjust or enhance thematic content accordingly.

  • Beneficiary Engagement and Empowerment: Foster the development of social skills, enhance self-confidence among children and youth, and encourage their active involvement in community, educational, and social initiatives.

  • Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the center's social workers, psychologists, and other team members to align training activities with the overall case management and program goals. Provide necessary guidance, support, and internal referrals when required.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Develop training agendas, maintain attendance logs, prepare comprehensive monthly progress reports, and submit recommendations for the continuous improvement of the educational programs.

5. Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Higher education in Humanities or Social Sciences (Social Work, Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology, or related fields).

  • At least 2 years of professional experience working with children/adolescents, delivering non-formal education, or facilitating training programs.

  • Excellent knowledge of interactive group work methodologies, experiential learning techniques, and training tools.

  • Strong understanding of ethical principles when communicating and working with vulnerable children, youth, and families.

  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, high flexibility, and strong organizational skills.

  • Fluency in Armenian (certified training or background in Media Literacy or Financial Literacy will be considered an asset).

6. Employment Terms and Conditions

  • Location: Child Daycare Center, Martuni town, Armenia

  • Contract Type: Service/Employment Contract

  • Duration: 12 months (with the possibility of extension based on project performance)

  • Reporting: The specialist will report directly to the Center Supervisor and Project Management.
