Consultant for Implementation of the training (Social Worker’s on-job-the training (coaching))

The “Armenian Association of Social Workers” non-governmental organization (hereafter AASW) has received financing from the Japan Social Development Fund toward the cost of the “Promoting Social Inclusion and Self-Reliant Livelihood Activities in Armenia” Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

The “Armenian Association of Social Workers” non-governmental organization (hereafter AASW) has received financing from the Japan Social Development Fund toward the cost of the “Promoting Social Inclusion and Self-Reliant Livelihood Activities in Armenia” Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

The main objective of this consultancy is to strengthen the capacities of 200 social workers/case managers from the newly established Unified Social Service Agencies in Lori, Shirak, Kotayq, Armavir and Ararat marzes through the delivery of on-the-job training (coaching) on effective implementation of social case management methodology as designed for the pilot supported by this project.

Under the Supervision of the representative of the Project Implementing Agency (Project Component-1 Coordinator) the Consultant for Implementation of the training (Social Worker’s on-job-the training (coaching)), hereinafter the Consultant will be responsible for the delivery of on-the-job training (coaching) sessions for social workers in project marzes.

Job responsibilities

Under this activity, the Consultant (coacher) shall be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Read and demonstrate good understanding of the case management methodology to be piloted with the support of this project (as described in the pilot’s Operational Manual).
  • Provide individual and group coaching support to local social workers /case managers on correctly applying the methodology as described in the Operational Manual, including:
    • Filing of cases (in the project’s MIS and/or, when available in the case management system (CMIS))
    • Social Work techniques (in-depth needs assessment, motivational interview, home visit, mapping, etc.)
    • Work with resisting clients
    • Networking
    • Resource mobilization
    • Communication with clients on activation, empowerment, community mobilization and inclusion
  • Help to develop and improve social work skills on:
    • Empathy
    • Effective Communication
    • Organization
    • Critical thinking to be able to analyze information gathered from unbiased observation and communication.
    • Active listening
    • Advocacy
  • Deliver monthly supervision meetings with local social service workforce in relevant communities on
    • Collaborative social work practice
    • Self-care and prevention of professional burnout
  • Prepare monthly reports on challenges and summary of activities proving support to SW in the field as described above.

Required qualifications

The shortlisting criteria are:

Higher professional education in task-relevant fields (e.g. social work, sociology, social sciences, etc.),

- Sound knowledge on social work frameworks and models and at least 5 years of working experience in the relevant field,

- Experience for delivering of trainings and/or coaching session (experience in specific project dimensions such as activation, child poverty or inclusion is an advantage),

- Experience with social protection sector, case management,

- Experience of work with state social service agencies and relevant local/territorial centers,

- Very good communication, presentation and facilitation skills,

- Relevant computer skills necessary to execute well-designed, professional documents, to work with on-line portals, project management systems.

Consultants may associate with other firms in the form of a joint venture or a sub consultancy to enhance their qualifications.

A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the (Selection of Individual Consultant) method set out in the Consultant Guidelines.
